MARK 2:2-3,5

MY COMMENTARY ON MARK 2:2-3,5.

Mark 2:3-4 (KJV) 3[And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.] 4[And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken ] it[ up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.]

Why did these men come to Jesus with their sick?

(A). It is obvious that they trusted no one else or had seen anyone else who was able to do for them what needed to be done, (namely to heal this man).
(B). They could not come nigh unto Him. This tells us that Jesus commanded such an audience, weather you believe in Him or not, His message and His action was attractive.
(C). They uncover the roof... And when they had broken it up. The need of these men was great, but the need did something else, it triggered a faith that was totally rested upon Jesus. The object of their faith had to supersede the fear, of the repercussion of their action. This is the faith that moves mountain, one that leaves no stone unturned.

Mark 2:5-6 (KJV) 5[When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, ] Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

When Jesus saw their faith. Faith can be and must be seen, not just talked about. Effective faith is that which is demonstrated by fearlessness. Faith that moves the hand of God is not normative, but extreme, am sure they we some around that was thinking these men were crazy. Real faith is to the unbeliever, crazy faith. Have you ever been asked, do you believe this, or do you believe that? Then they will say, that is not literal it is figurative. These men saw a literal Jesus and they needed a literal miracle, their faith in Jesus accomplished in an instant, what no doctor could do.

Jesus did not say get up and walk, this came later, He said, "son thy sins be forgiven thee."
The greater need of man is not physical but spiritual. We can enter the Kingdom of God lame, blind etc. but we cannot enter with sin. Jesus did this because of their faith, but also to show that He has the power on earth to forgive sin, proving that He is God.

Our faith will be tested but on Christ alone must we stand, for He is able to sustain our faith, in Him alone is the nourishment that grows our faith.

Patrick Cameron Jesus loves you.
