MARK 2:2-3,5

MY COMMENTARY ON MARK 2:2-3,5. Mark 2:3-4 (KJV) 3[And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.] 4[And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken ] it[ up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.] Why did these men come to Jesus with their sick? (A). It is obvious that they trusted no one else or had seen anyone else who was able to do for them what needed to be done, (namely to heal this man). (B). They could not come nigh unto Him. This tells us that Jesus commanded such an audience, weather you believe in Him or not, His message and His action was attractive. (C). They uncover the roof... And when they had broken it up. The need of these men was great, but the need did something else, it triggered a faith that was totally rested upon Jesus. The object of their faith had to supersede the fear, of the repercussion of their action. This ...

CHRIST AND THE SERPENT

Christ and the serpent If the serpent is symbolic of sin, why did God told Moses to make a bronze serpent on a pole for the people to look upon for their healing when they were bitten by serpents? If we are bitten by sin (serpent), how then can we look upon the same sin (serpent) to save us? Most of what happened in the Old Testament was a picture of what was to come. They were pointing to that which would later make real that which were only a shadow. The serpent on the pole was a picture of Jesus who would become the means of our salvation. When sin ran rampant in our lives, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for the ungodly. John 3: 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
