Muhammad, Allah, and the Shahada
Can I become a Muslim without confessing the prophethood of Muhammad? Let's see.
The Shahada
The Shahada is the Islamic declaration of faith, consisting of two parts affirming the oneness of God and the prophethood of Muhammad.
P: What does the shahada says?
"Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Allah, Wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulu-Allah". - "I bear witness that there is no god but God (Allah), and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah".
P: Why does the shahada sound like a verse from the New Testament?
John 17:3 KJVS And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
P: Can a person become a Muslim without saying the shahada?
Answer: No!
P: Can I say "I bear witness that there is no god but God (Allah) and become a Muslim?
Answer: No!
To officially enter Islam, you must say both parts of the Shahada (the testimony of faith), not just the first part.
P: Why is confession about the prophethood of Muhammad necessary if Islam means "submission to the will of Allah?"
John 17:3 tells us that it is impossible to have a personal relationship with God unless we confess both God the Father, and Jesus His Son. This is not strange because Christians believe and teach that Jesus is God, but why is Muhammad a mere man placed on the same level as the Muslim's god if a person desire to enter into relationship with Allah?
If you can't become a Muslim without confessing the name of Muhammad (which youu must), the logical deduction tells us that Allah is not higher or more important than Muhammad, they are the same in importance.
Was the shahada copied from the New Testament? What do you think?
